Adjutant General of Oregon National Guard welcomed in Hanoi

Sen. Lt. Gen. Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, welcomed Maj. Gen. Michael Stencel, Adjutant General of the US’s Oregon National Guard, in Hanoi on January 19.

The reception was part of the US officer’s working visit to Vietnam.

The two sides shared the view that under the Vietnam-US comprehensive partnership, defence cooperation has been developing over the past years as seen in such areas as humanitarian aid, natural disaster response, training, sharing peacekeeping experience, and addressing war consequences.

Minh affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to the US’s role in the region. He expressed his hope that the two armies will continue making efforts to reinforce their defence ties in a practical and effective manner on the basis of equality and mutual respect for the sake of each country and for peace and stability in the region and the world.
