Vietnamese culture introduced in the UK
VOV.VN - Vietnamese culture was introduced on October 8 at the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival in London, the UK via a range of other interesting activities.
The event served to create opportunities to strengthen connectivity among the Vietnamese community based in the UK, while also providing an opportunity for young generations to gain greater insights into the nation's cultural traditions.
Diverse activities were held during the course of the festival, including a moon cake making competition, a contest to learn about Vietnamese language and culture, a chopstick competition, a Chinese chess competition, tug of war, as well as bamboo and lion dances.
Most notably, there was a unique performance put on by traditional Vietnamese music artists from Europe for the first time. Furthermore, there was also an exhibition held to display symbolic designs of Vietnamese people based in London.
This has been a project supported by the London administration which seeks to elevate the image of Vietnamese people in the UK, whilst also raising local people's awareness of the Vietnamese community.
Hoang Viet Phuong, chairman of the Vietnamese Business Association in the UK (VBUK), said the event has created an interesting playground for Vietnamese children and families in the UK, while simultaneously heightening solidarity and enhancing bonds of the Vietnamese community in the UK.
Tang Tuan Tu, chairman of the Vietnamese Association in the UK (VAUK), said the event has contributed to further promoting Vietnamese cultural identity among the second and third generations of Vietnamese people in the UK, as well as in indigenous communities.
