Ho Chi Minh City to host first online tourism festival in December

VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City is set to host an online tourism festival from Dec. 4 to 25 to help businesses connect with consumers via online commerce channels Shopee and Traveloka, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

The fair space will be held via online platforms of 2D and 3D applications and will feature the participation of the city’s reputable tourism businesses at over 100 virtual booths.

The municipal Tourism Promotion Center stated that it will cooperate alongside Shopee to develop an e-travel trading platform to implement a discounted programme with 10,000 coupons worth VND500 million on offer.

The scheme will officially open for sale from November 30 offering a 30% discount on tickets to the Ho Chi Minh City Museum in 2022.

Furthermore, from now until the end of the year, discounts of between 5% and 40% will be applied to tours to Can Gio via land and waterway routes.

The tours, to be priced from only VND599,000 each, will be operated by Saigontourist, Vietravel, Saco, TST, Vina Group, Asia Journey, and HaHa travel.

Le Truong Hien Hoa, deputy director of the city’s Department of Tourism, revealed that 27 provinces and cities nationwide have now registered for participation in the event.

Travel firms will be given the chance to introduce new destinations to visitors, in addition to showcasing typical tourism products of several localities from across the country, as well as the latest technological applications in the tourism industry.

Nguyen Thi Khanh, chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, said tourism businesses will conduct surveys and design safe tours in order to promptly serve visitors right after the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control.

This year's festival will begin on December 3 with a talk on tourism promotion and development in Ho Chi Minh City.

The opening ceremony will be held on December 4 and will be live broadcast via social networking platforms of the municipal Department of Tourism and Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
