The domestic gold price saw a sudden increase on September 6 to reach VND45.9-46.15 million per tael, VND150,000 higher than the previous trading session.
SJC gold in Hanoi was listed at VND45.95-46.17 million/tael in the afternoon of September 6, while the price hovered around VND45.8-46 million in Ho Chi Minh City.
On the global market, gold jumped to US$1,700/ounce and is likely to rise in the coming days.
Economists predict that global gold prices will experience fluctuations in the near future to surpass the US$1,720/ounce mark.
According to the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), the domestic gold price is currently VND2.9 million/tael higher than that on the world market.
