Businesses seek opportunities for greater development in overseas market

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a talk on December 10 among various heads of Vietnamese representative missions abroad and businesses in a bid to help local firms seek better opportunities for development in the overseas market.

Delegates in attendance at the event agreed on numerous orientations and propose practical solutions for the diplomatic sector and businesses, with the ultimate aim of joining efforts to recover and develop production activities moving into the new normal.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu underscored the importance of developing economic diplomacy for the purpose of national development, with priorities being given to people, localities, and businesses in line with the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

He emphasized that diplomatic agencies throughout the country and 94 Vietnamese representative missions abroad consider the Vietnamese business community as a top priority for support.

Deputy Minister Vu added that the occasion, the opening event for the 31st Diplomatic Conference, offered an ideal venue for heads of Vietnamese representative missions abroad can share information and address challenges for the sector, as well as helping the Vietnamese business community overcome numerous difficulties as the world moves into the new normal context.

He went on to reveal that the country has entered a special period amid the multidimensional impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including social distancing orders, supply chain disruption, and a shift of trends with a focus on digital transformation, green growth, and greater innovation.

The Vietnamese diplomat therefore expressed his belief that Vietnamese firms will get updated information on market trends, trade, and tourism promotion activities overseas through the event, while simultaneously receiving support from representative missions abroad in how to do business with foreign firms.

The Deputy Minister therefore requested that heads of Vietnamese representative missions abroad provide local businesses with timely information on overseas markets, new partners and investment capital flows in Vietnam.

At the event, business representatives shared new opportunities and trends in multiple fields, such as trade, investment, production, science and technology, and innovation amid the complicated nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.
