After crushing Malaysia 8-0 in the opening game, chief coach Chen Yun Fat made no change in the Vietnamese team’s line-up. Meanwhile, Myanmar, which only got two points in the first two games, came up with attacks at the beginning, aimed at dominating the game. However, they almost posed no dangers to Vietnamese goalie Kieu Trinh.  

In the first half, Vietnamese girls threatened to stun their jetted opponents, but either Kim Chi scored a goal in the offside position or Le Thi Oanh failed to hammer home when facing goalie May Khin Yamin.

Kim Hong also carved out a scoring chance in the 23^rd minute, but the ball hit the woodwork.

Van Thi Thanh was denied just before half time when the goalkeeper parried her opportunist shot away a safety.

After the interval, coach Chen Yun Fat replaced a player with Minh Nguyet who has experienced many international games, in a hope of breaking through Myanmar’s defence line. 

In the 54^th minute, Minh Nguyet was fouled, and from a free kick outside the penalty box, Kim Chi fired a typically clinical shot into the net, putting Vietnam into an early lead.

Myanmar opponents produced counterattacks, but they met strong resistance from Vietnamese defenders who worked hard to protect the goal.

Moe Moe War, who played well throughout the game, had a chance to test goalie Kieu Trinh in the 70^th minute. Luckily, the ball hit the woodwork. 

Vietnamese girls preserved their advantage until the 76^th minute when goalie Kieu Trinh was said by the referee to commit a foul and Moe Moe War equalised the score from a penalty kick.
