Send-off ceremony for Vietnamese delegation to SEA Games 32 slated for April 19

VOV.VN - A ceremony is scheduled to be held on April 19 in Hanoi to see off the Vietnamese sports delegation as they depart for the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32) which will take place from May 5 to May 17 in Cambodia.

The purpose of the event is to encourage the competitive spirit of the Vietnamese athletes as they strive to put in their best possible performance at the event.

As many as 700 local athletes will compete at SEA Games 32, although some athletes won’t participate in the regional games as they are busy preparing for the Asian Games (ASIAD) which will be held in September this year.

The national track-and-field team are sending the most athletes to SEA Games 32 with 80 members, followed by men’s and women’s football teams with 60 players, the e-sports team with 51 competitors, and the vovinam team with 38 athletes.

Cambodia will host a total of 36 sports with 583 events. The Vietnamese sporting delegation will participate in 452 events across 31 sports, with the ultimate goal of making the top three of the medal tally.

At SEA Games 32, the host country will not put on several Olympic sports that Vietnam is strong in, including shooting, archery, sailing, chess, gymnastics, wushu, futsal, bodybuilding, and kurash, among others.

In addition, many other events of Vietnam's strengths were also restricted in terms of the number of participating athletes.
