HSBC donates VND3.2 billion to disadvantaged children

(VOV) - The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Future First Program will provide US$153,000 (VND3.2 billion) for six NGO-funded projects in Vietnam and SOS Children Village.

These projects will provide 8,300 street children and orphans with educational opportunities and life skills courses as well as provide vocational training for less fortunate adolescents in Vietnam.

They will be implemented at three SOS Children Villages in Ben Tre, Danang and Haiphong, and at Anh Duong Community Development and Support Centre, Hearts for Hue Fund and HCM City Children’s Fund.

HSBC Vietnam’s sustainable development committee president, Scott Solberg said Future First is one of key projects in its portfolio.

Thanks to the program, Vietnamese street children and orphans can become optimistic and useful members of society, Scott said.

Since it was first implemented in Vietnam in 2007, Future First has funded 34 projects worth more than US$1.3 million, benefiting 80,417 disadvantaged children.
