Top Vietnamese legislator arrives in Havana for Cuba visit
VOV.VN - A high raking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) led by NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue arrived in Havana on April 18 (local time), beginning an official visit to Cuba.
They were welcomed at Jose Marti airport by Deputy President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Ana Maria Mari Machado along with other senior Cuban officials. Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Thanh Tung and representatives of Vietnamese expatriates were also present at the ceremony.
The visit takes place at a time when the two countries are celebrating their major events this year, including the 60th anniversary of Cuba's establishment of the Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam, and the 50th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro Ruz's first visit to Vietnam.
It aims to promote the traditional friendship and special cooperation between the two countries in many fields, such as politics-diplomacy, defense – security, economy, trade and investment, agriculture, and health care, among others.
During the five-day visit, the top Vietnamese legislator is scheduled to attend the first session of the 10th Cuban National Assembly, sign a cooperation agreement between the two legislatures, and have meetings with high-ranking leaders of the Party and State of Cuba.
He will also attend the 62nd anniversary of the Giron Beach Victory and the Vietnam-Cuba business forum, and meet the Vietnamese community there.
He will witness the exchange of cooperation agreements between the two countries’ ministries and localities, and attend several economic, cultural and educational activities.
Cuba is the first stopover of Hue’s Latin American tour that also includes Argentina and Uruguay.
