The Hai Phong Equipment Manufacture and Shipbuilding company (LISEMCO) has earned a revenue of more than VND472 billion (roughly US$29.5 million), recording a growth rate of over 35 percent.

LISEMCO fulfilled 66 orders by both local and foreign partners, helping to raise its position in the heavy equipment manufacturing market. Prominent projects include the National Conference Centre, the Uong Bi hydro-electric power plant, and the Hai Phong cement plant.

It signed a contract to build ten 3,000-tonne cargo ships for a German company in 2006, of which four qualified ships were delivered to its partner. The company also signed many contracts worth more than VND500 billion for 2007.

The encouraging result was mainly driven by the company's endeavours in improving production capacity, purchasing more state-of-the-art equipment, and building more workshops.

LISEMCO, a subsidiary of the Vietnam Construction and Machinery Installation Corporation (Lilama), has invested more than VND300 billion in a move to become an equipment manufacturing centre of the Hai Phong-Quang Ninh industrial region.
