Hanoi five-star hotels fully booked ahead US-North Korea Summit

A range of five-star hotels in Hanoi have been fully booked ahead of the US-North Korea Summit which is scheduled to take place in the capital city.

US President Donald Trump confirmed in his recent Twitter message that his second meeting with North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un will be held in Hanoi on February 27-28.

At present, many five-star hotels in Hanoi have been booked up from February 25 to March 2, particularly on February 27-28.

According to Booking, Agoda and Traveloka, hotels such as Hilton, Daewoo, Melia, Sheraton, InterContinental, De L’Opera, Apricot and Crowne Plaza West Hanoi have mostly fully reserved.

The JW Marriott, InterContinental, Sofitel Metropole, Sheraton and Hilton are also in the same situation.

Final rooms at some hotels such as Somerset West Point, Diamond Westlake and Fraser Suites were booked by late Wednesday.

Until now, only a few rooms have been reported available at several hotels such as Fortuna Hotel Hanoi, Tirant, Thang Long Opera, La Dolce Vita and Silk Queen Grand.

Representatives from some hotels said that hotel room reservation has tended to increase after Tet Holiday, but this year, it has rocketed. This is attributed to the upcoming US-North Korean Summit. Along with officials, large numbers of international journalists will come to Hanoi to attend the event.

CBRE Vietnam reported that Hanoi now has around 7,770 rooms of four to five-star hotels with two-thirds of them claiming five-star ranking.

Most of the city’s four to five-star hotels are located at the city-centre districts of Ba Dinh and Hoan Kiem.

During visits to Vietnam previously, US presidents are often accompanied by delegations of around 1,000 people.
