Natural calamities nationwide left 66 dead and missing and caused economic losses of VND2.2 trillion in the first six months of this year, said the General Statistics Office.

Preliminary reports indicated that disasters damaged and toppled more than 10,000 houses, inundated over 67,000 hectares of rice and food crops and killed about 60,000 head of cattle.

During this period, disaster-hit localities received over VND110 billion in relief aid to help the locals stabilise their production and lives.

Additionally, in order to overcome the shortage of food, ministries, department and localities dispatched 16.500 tonnes of foodstuff and US$9.2 billion to the affected households.
