Seven more prosecuted in bribery case at foreign ministry

The investigation agency under the Ministry of Public Security has issued decisions to prosecute, arrest and search the residences and workplaces of seven more individuals for their involvement in a bribery case at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in Hanoi and some other cities and provinces.

Of them, three are prosecuted for “taking bribes” – Vu Hong Quang, 45, deputy head of the Air Transport Bureau of the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam; Vu Ngoc Minh, 61, former official of the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola; and Ly Tien Hung, 53, former official of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, who is now working for the Ministry of Education and Training’s Department of Science, Technology and Environment.

Three are prosecuted for “giving bribes” – Nguyen Thi Hien, 35, a freelance labourer; Dao Minh Duong, 51, Chairman of Vijasun JSC; and Nguyen The Dung, 42, Director of Luxury Tour Co., Ltd.

Pham Thi Kim Ngan, 40, an official of the Government Inspectorate’s magazine, is prosecuted for “bribery brokerage.”

The investigation agency continues investigating into the bribery case.

Several senior officials have been arrested and prosecuted in the case, including a deputy foreign minister, the head and deputy head of the Consular Department under the Foreign Ministry, and an assistant to the Standing Deputy Prime Minister.
