The central province of Quang Nam has approved a US$6 million project to build a state-of-the-art water plant with a capacity of 21,000 cu.m per day to supply water to the ancient town of Hoi An.

Of the project’s total investment, over US$5.16 million will be sourced from the Norwegian Government’s official development assistance (ODA).

Construction of the plant, one of the most modern water plants in the Southeast Asian region, is scheduled to begin in mid-2007 and finish in late 2008.

The province has completed the first phrase of a project on building the Vinh Dien – Hoi An raw water supply system and upgrading the Hoi An Water Plant with a capacity of 6,000 cu.m per day to bring fresh water to Hoi An residents.
