Czech President Petr Pavel invited to visit Vietnam

VOV.VN - State President Vo Van Thuong extended his invitation to Czech President Petr Pavel to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time, during his reception for Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in Hanoi on April 21.

Thuong welcomed Fiala’s Vietnam visit which he said would help strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

He thanked the Czech Republic’s assistance in the past and reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of enhancing cooperative relations with traditional friends, including the Czech Republic.

He hailed the results of earlier talks between the two countries’ PMs and suggested the two sides work closely to realize the agreements reached during the visit, in order to further promote bilateral cooperation in economy-trade-investment, education-training, tourism and people-to-people exchanges.

Fiala for his part affirmed the Czech Republic always attaches great importance to consolidating and developing relations with Vietnam, its most important partner in Southeast Asia.

He agreed with Thuong’s proposals, and assured that the two governments will continue to create conditions for businesses of the two countries to expand investment and business cooperation.

The Czech PM proposed promoting comprehensive cooperation in politics - diplomacy, economy - trade and people-to-people exchanges through the early opening of direct flights between the two countries as well as the opening of the Czech Cultural Center in Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums and international organizations, including the United Nations, Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), and the ASEAN-EU cooperation framework to contribute to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the wider world.

With regard to the East Sea issue, the two sides reaffirmed their support for the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

At the reception, Thuong also requested that the Czech Government continue creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to integrate and live stably in their host country.
