Sa Pa tourist resort turns cold during summer time
VOV.VN - The popular mountainous tourist town of Sa Pa in northern Vietnam has experienced a sharp drop in temperatures after a cold spell suddenly hit the locality at midnight on May 23.
The cold weather caused some places throughout the locality to endure a spell of light rain which prompted temperatures to drop even further.
According to the Lao Cai Hydro-Meteorological Station, the temperature fell to 21.5 degrees Celsius in Bac Ha Plateau and 17.3 degrees Celsius in S Pa.
Local people and tourists were seen wear warm clothes when they went out for shopping or sightseeing.
The region is forecast to continue experiencing spells of torrential rainfall, along with lightning and strong winds on May 24 due to a combination of the cold spell coupled with the high wind convergence zone.
The hydro-meteorological station therefore issued warnings that the locality should fully prepare for the possibility of landslides and flash floods.
Most notably, heavy rainfall is set to occur on May 26.
