Latest COVID-19 hotspots must be kept in check, orders PM

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 26 asked relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Health, and Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces to work harder to bring the latest COVID-19 outbreaks in the two provinces under control for the sake of people’s health.

The primary goal of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh now is to prevent and repel COVID-19 in order to protect people’s health and ensure business production is not disrupted, Chinh told an online meeting with leaders of the two provinces.

To meet the goal, he requested relevant ministries, agencies and the two localities to increase testing capacity, use information technology in prevention and control, strictly follow COVID-19 guidelines, including the 5K message plus vaccination, and tighten immigration and residence management.

It is imperative to mobilise all resources and provide additional medical supplies for the two provinces, including the establishment of field hospitals, in order to early detect, quarantine and treat cases effectively, said the PM.

He asked the Ministry of Health and relevant ministries to consider piloting a home quarantine model for F1 cases (those in direct contact with the source of infection) and vaccinating employees at industrial parks.

The government leader reminded relevant ministries to soon complete the COVID-19 vaccine fund plan and accelerate the vaccine accessibility from external sources for domestic use.

He also asked neighbouring provinces to provide assistance to Bac Giang and Bac Ninh in their capacity.

Both localities have locked down many industrial parks for swift contact tracing, isolation and extensive testing, in an effort to halt the spread of the virus.

The MoH has dispatched a contingent of doctors from various localities to Bac Giang to assist it keep the latest COVID-19 outbreak in check.

In the face of increasing COVID-19 threats, the MoH has warned people to strictly follow its 5K message in Vietnamese, namely Khau trang (facemask), Khu khuan (disinfection), Khoang cach (distance), Khong tu tap (no gatherings), and Khai bao y te (health declaration).

In addition, experts have said vaccination is the most effective way to prevent someone from being infected with the virus.
