Vietnam requests removing Chinese film with nine-dash line scene
VOV.VN - The Cinema Department of Vietnam has requested Netflix Vietnam and FPT Telecom JSC removing series of the Chinese movie Flight To You as the movie contains scenes of the nine-dash line, violating Vietnam’s sovereignty.
In a dispatch dated July 9, the Vietnamese film watchdog said it has reviewed all 39 episodes of the movie and found that the image of the nine-dash line appears on the map of episodes 18, 19, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 30 and 38.
Though FPT had blurred the image of the map, the Cinema Department said the movie is not suitable for screening in Vietnam as it contains inappropriate content, infringing upon national sovereignty.
The Cinema Department therefore requested Netflix Vietnam and FPT to remove the film within 24 hours starting from 0:00 on July 10, and then to send a report to the Department before July 12.
On July 9 evening, a media representative of FPT Play said that the film has been removed from its domain name, application and other infrastructure platforms.
