VOV.VN - Vietnam always attaches importance to developing the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation relationship with Belarus, PM Pham Minh Chinh told newly accredited Belarussian ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou in Hanoi on October 11.

At the meeting, Chinh welcomed the positive progress the two countries have made in bilateral cooperation in recent times, especially in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economy - trade despite difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He highly appreciated the two countries’ mutual exchange of medical equipment and supplies for COVID-19 prevention in the past time, considering this a noble symbol of the traditional friendship between the two peoples.

Chinh proposed that the two sides strengthen the exchange of delegations at all levels in order to outline measures for multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus, as well as with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The two sides should make effective use of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the EAEU to raise their two-way trade to new heights, he suggested.

The Prime Minister also expected that Belarus would create favourable conditions for more Vietnamese goods, especially agricultural and aquatic products, to enter the Belarusian market, contributing to balancing trade between the two countries.

For his part, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou agreed with the Vietnamese PM’s proposals and vowed to make every effort during his working term to further enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in economy - trade.
