Fresh batch of stamps featuring Oc Eo culture released

VOV.VN - The Vietnam Post Corporation unveiled a new collection of stamps on August 20 which showcases Oc Eo culture, with the aim of preserving artifacts which are recognised as national treasures.

The release of the latest stamp collection features three new models. These include a statue of Avalokitesvara which symbols Oc Eo culture during the eighth and ninth centuries, the Binh Hoa Buddha statue which is considered a typical work of Oc Eo culture over the third and fourth centuries, and the God Brahma sculpture from the sixth and seventh centuries.

The array of images were created by local painter Nguyen Du of the Vietnam Post Corporation. 

The collection is set to be used in post offices nationwide between August 20 and June 30, 2022.

Oc Eo is an archaeological site in Thoai Son district in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.

Scholars often use the term "Oc Eo Culture" in reference to the archaeological culture of the Mekong Delta region that is typified through the artifacts recovered at Oc Eo following archeological investigations.
