The Israeli air force has fired a missile at a building in Gaza used by the governing Palestinian party, Fatah.

Israel said it targeted a building in Khan Yunis used by the Fatah-linked militants, al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. There were no reports of casualties.

There has been an upsurge in unrest in the Gaza Strip in the past few weeks.

Fatah leaders met to discuss the violence, and repeated a call for this month's elections to be postponed unless the situation improves.

Two Palestinian militants were killed by Israeli fire in Gaza on Sunday. Israel said the men were preparing to fire missiles across the border. One of those killed was said to have belonged to al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.

Fatah leaders, meeting in Ramallah, also called on Israel to allow Palestinians in east Jerusalem to vote freely.

However, the Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, has appealed to militants to maintain their truce with Israel, which they said they had abandoned.
