Vietnam to play Iran in friendly futsal tournament
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese national futsal team are scheduled to face Iran and Finland in Group B of the Continental Futsal Championship 2022, with the competition getting underway from September 11 to September 16 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Group A will involve the participation of the hosts Thailand, Morocco, and Mozambique.
The top teams of both groups will subsequently progress through to the semi-final round.
Following the conclusion of the futsal tournament, the Vietnamese team will then travel to Kuwait to compete in the finals of the 2022 Asian Football Federation (AFC) Futsal Asian Cup which will run between September 27 and October 8. Iran are currently the defending champions, having won the title back in 2018.
The Vietnamese team led by head coach Diego Giustozzi will play in Group D alongside Japan, the Republic of Korea, and Saudi Arabia.
The country’s best-ever finish at the tournament was finishing in fourth place in the 2016 tournament. Meanwhile, Iran have won the championship titles 12 times.
