The first international Seaport Festival will be held in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau from November 10-12.

The information was released by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau provincial People’s Committee, and Long Mai Global Trade JSC (LOMA Corporation) on July 28.

This is a significant event for implementing the Master Plan of Vietnam seaport system development till 2020, with a vision to 2030.

It is aimed at highlighting Vietnam's marine-based economy and raising public awareness of its leading role in developing economy, ensuring national security and defence, and defending Vietnam’s sovereignty over the sea and islands.

Ho Van Nien, Vice Chairman of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial People’s Committee, said the festival will offer an opportunity for Vietnam introduce its domestic products and promote its image to international friends.

During the three-day festival, there will be various activities including a carnival to welcome the festival; an exhibition of domestic and international seaports and logistics services; and a golf tournament to raise funds “For Beloved Truong Sa”.
