Vietnam, Czech Republic boast high cooperation potential in multiple fields

VOV.VN - Vietnam and the Czech Republic boast high co-operation potential in the fields of science, technology, environment, and education, said Dr. Duong Van Minh, an environment expert and a lecturer at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague.

As part of Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s  official visit to Vietnam from April 20 to April 24, Dr. Minh told the media in Prague that the trip will bring about new hopes for the two countries, particularly as the pair share a common goal of sustainable development and settlement of challenges in climate change and environmental issues.

With its advanced technologies and high capacity in terms of environmental management, the Czech side can support their Vietnamese partners in these fields, while the nation, boasting rich natural resources and biodiversity, can provide opportunities for the Central European country to develop innovation solutions serving sustainable growth, he assessed.

The two sides can also co-operate in other areas such as waste management, renewable energy, and green transport, he said, explaining that with a growing population and fast urbanisation rate, the nation is facing major challenges in waste management, water pollution, and downgrading air quality. In line with this, it is possible that the Czech Republic can provide technical assistance in enhancing the Vietnamese capacity.

Dr. Minh underlined that renewable energy represents a promising area for bilateral ties, particularly as advanced technologies in solar and wind power from the Czech side will prove helpful for the country in completing its ambitious goals in the field.

Both sides can also work together in order to develop green transport solutions, such as electric vehicles and public transport systems, in order to reduce emissions and improve air quality in urban areas, Dr. Minh went on to say.

The expert underscored the high potential that exists for the two sides to partner in education to optimise the Czech Republic’s strengths in education and post-graduate research.

Dr. Minh added that he believes that the Czech PM’s visit will mark the start of a win-win co-operation era for both nations, thereby enabling them to work together in dealing with pressing challenges of sustainable development and building a brighter future for the two peoples.
