Deputy PM and FM Minh glowingly spoke of the outcomes of the consultation between Vietnamese Deputy FM Bui Thanh Son and Mark Field, as well as the recent positive development of the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership across multiple fields such as politics-diplomacy, trade-investment, education-training, defence-security, climate change adaptation, and UN peacekeeping operation.

The Vietnamese diplomat suggested the UK Government urge the European Union (EU) to sign and adopt the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) soon, while highly appreciated the UK’s proposals to augment trade and investment cooperation between the two nations after the UK officially leaves the EU.

He expressed his appreciation for the UK’s role in security and development issues in the world, and agreed that the two sides will work together at multilateral forums as a contribution to ensuring peace, stability and cooperation in the region and the world.

Mark Field, in turn, hailed the socio-economic development and international integration achievements Vietnam has recorded as well as the sound development of bilateral relations in recent times.

The UK Government is ready to give priority to developing its relations with Vietnam which has the increasingly important voice in ASEAN and in the Asia Pacific region.

Mark Field is on a visit to Vietnam for the Vietnam-UK deputy foreign minister-level political consultation.
