The Canadian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City on March 21 presented VND434 million (roughly US$27,000) to the municipal Tumour Centre to support cancer patients and cancer research in Vietnam.

The amount was collected from the 10th annual Terry Fox Run, recently held by the diplomatic mission and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Addressing the hand-over ceremony, Canadian Consul General Bill Johnston said that since 2004, the Terry Fox Fund has donated more than VND770 million to the Ho Chi Minh City Tumour Centre for the treatment of cancer patients in the city and its suburbs.

In addition to the caring of cancer patients, the above donation will also help the tumour centre to work out strategies and treatment methods for cancer patients, said Pham Xuan Dung, Vice-Director of the centre.
