Vietnam – Czech Republic trade ties thrive thanks to EVFTA enforcement

The agreement was shared by Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Tran Luu Quang and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in India on January 10 on the sidelines of the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.

They concurred that two-way trade turnover between the two countries is growing positively, hitting nearly US$1 billion last year. At the same time, they said the two countries should bring into full play opportunities to raise bilateral trade to new heights.

Quang proposed that the Czech have its voice to encourage other EU member states to ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) to facilitate to equal and mutually beneficial investment cooperation between businesses of both sides.

Fiala for his part recalled his good impressions of his recent visit to Vietnam, especially the meetings with senior Vietnamese leaders and the organization of a joint business forum with the participation of many businesses from both sides.

The Czech PM proposed that the two sides continue to promote the exchange of delegations to outline cooperation directions. He agreed that the two countries continue to promote labour cooperation, especially with training of highly skilled workers. He also suggested that the two sides expand cooperation in the field of the defense industry and promote the early opening of direct flights between the two countries.

At the meeting, the Czech PM highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic for their industriousness, diligence, studiousness, and positive contributions not only to the socio-economic development of the host country but also to the good friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
