Tradco Global Engineering and Construction S.A (TGEC) of Switzerland has asked the central province of Phu Yen for permission to invest in a tourism project in its Tuy An district.

The group wants to build a golf course and a resort at a minimum capital of US$1.5 billion, says the provincial Planning and Investment Department.

The Swiss firm is scheduled to begin its first phase of the project in the fourth quarter of 2009 and complete the project in 2015.

The Planning and Investment Department also says that the project is located within a Special Economic Zone, which was agreed on by Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates in October 2008.
