The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) has decided to build an aeronautic space industry park in the central city of Da Nang.

The French Ambassador to Vietnam, Jean Francois Girault, unveiled the information during his meeting with Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee Tran Van Minh on June 7, according to the Nhan Dan (People’s) daily.

EADS representatives said the company’s decision was based on the results of recent surveys in the city and the consensus it had reached with concerned Vietnamese agencies such as the Air and Air Defence Force, and national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines.

The company considers this as an extremely important project in its long-term cooperation strategy with Vietnam, they said.

Minh applauded EADS’s decision and pledged to create every favourable condition for the implementation of the project, which is expected to provide fresh impetus for the development of Vietnam’s aerospace industry and boost socio-economic development in Da Nang City.
