Almost 250 workers from different localities and sectors have participated in the National Skilled Workers' Contest 2006, which opened in Hanoi on May 23.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister for Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Le Bach Hong said that the contest is part of preparations for the 6th ASEAN Skilled Workers' Contest, scheduled for September in Brunei, and the 39th World Skilled Workers' Contest in 2007.

The workerss are competing in 14 occupations, including drawing and computer design, information and technology, applied electronics, the automobile industry, civil electricity, garment manufacturing, restaurant services, cooking, carpentry, and building.
