Nearly 280 Vietnamese citizens repatriated safely from Europe

VOV.VN - Close to 280 Vietnamese citizens arrived home safe and sound from Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland and Sweden on a repatriation flight conducted by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on December 29-30 as the joint efforts by competent agencies from both Vietnam and the host nations.

The majority of passengers onboard the flight were made up of minors under the age of 18, the elderly, sick people, students who have completed their courses and have difficulty in accommodation, and other specially difficult cases.

In order to assist citizens, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Frankfurt has sent officers to the airport in Frankfurt to directly assist citizens in completing procedures before boarding the plane to return home.

Vietnam Airlines strictly carried out a range of measures on security, safety, and hygiene throughout the journey as a means of protecting the health of citizens and to prevent the possible spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Once the aircraft landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, all flight crew members and passengers underwent medical check-ups and were immediately transferred to quarantine facilities in line with regulations relating to COVID-19 prevention and control.

In the coming time, bringing home Vietnamese citizens with extremely difficult circumstances will be arranged by relevant agencies based on their needs and the country’s current quarantine capacity.
