Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem and his entourage arrived in New York on May 29 to attend a United Nations General Assembly summit on HIV/AIDS, from May 31 to June 3.

The summit will be a meeting venue for 132 delegates who are high-ranking State officials, ministers from UN member countries, senior officials of UN agencies and international organisations to review the implementation of the resolutions of the UN General Assembly special session on HIV/AIDS in 2001.

The four-day summit also aims to reconfirm the joint commitment by UN member countries to continue the execution of UN resolutions on HIV/AIDS prevention.

The Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to participate in five roundtable meetings and five technical discussions on the summit agenda, in the hope of sharing experiences in HIV/AIDS prevention work with the other countries and contributing to the summit's ultimate political declaration.
