7,680 babies born during first three days of lunar New Year

VOV.VN - Vietnam welcomed 7,680 newborns during the first three days of the Lunar New Year, known locally as Tet, according to the Ministry of Health.

The ministry reported that healthcare facilities maintained round-the-clock operations throughout the holiday period, providing emergency aid to 33,185 patients on February 11 alone, up 8.1% year on year.

As of February 11, healthcare facilities gave treatment to 92,742 patients during the seven-day holiday, starting on February 8.

The past three days saw 2,210 emergency surgeries performed, including 581 cases of traumatic brain injury.

Throughout the reviewed period, 9,920 emergencies as a consequence of traffic accidents were recorded, down by 14.4% year on year.

Medical examinations and emergency aid were also provided to 453 patients suffering from firecrackers injuries, 129 cases more than the previous Tet. No fatalities were recorded.

There were also 55 emergency cases due to fires and explosions, including 24 cases hospitalised for further treatment.
