A ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on August 5 to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Singapore and the 43rd anniversary of Singapore’s National Day (August 9).

At the function, Singaporean Consul General Jimmy Chua Tin Chew and President of HCM City Union of Friendship Organisations Le Hung Quoc affirmed that the two countries have exerted their best efforts to promote friendship and cooperation. They have laid firm foundations for boosting bilateral cooperation in investment, education and training, logistics, urban development and finance.

Currently, Singapore is one of Vietnam’s largest investors with more than 500 projects capitalised at US$9.6 billion. More than 500 enterprises and nearly 3,000 Singaporean people are working and living in the city.

According to the Consul General, Singapore has hosted many activities to mark the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, including a festive programme showcasing Vietnam’s history, arts and culture from April to July. A memorial monument to President Ho Chi Minh has also been unveiled in front of the Asian Civilisation Museum.
