Raising media’s role in coping with climate change

(VOV) -More than 100 delegates representing media agencies from across Vietnam attended an April 24 seminar in the southern city of Can Tho, debating  the role of media in minimising the negative impact of climate change.

The Vietnam Journalists Association (VJA) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) jointly organised the event.

The VJA said climate change is an issue both Vietnamese and international journalists have an obligation to cover, especially considering Vietnam is one of the five countries expected to suffer its most serious repercussions.

The association praised the local press’ active contributions to disseminating warnings regarding the potential impacts of climate change on people’s lives and illuminating the environmental dangers posed by unsustainable economic development.

Participants discussed ways to strengthen collaborative cross-organisation communication about climate change and fulfill their crucial role and responsibility in the future.
