COVID-19: Vietnam confirms five imported cases

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health confirmed five imported coronavirus cases, including two illegal entrants, on March 26 afternoon.

All five patients are Vietnamese citizens, of whom two returned to Vietnam from Japan and the United Arab Emirates, while one entered the territory through Moc Bai International Bordergate.

The three patients tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus during their stay in concentrated quarantine facilities, thus posing no risk to the community.

However, the remaining two patients, with one in Binh Duong and the other in Hai Phong, were said to illegally enter the Vietnamese territory by land and sea routes.

The 44-year-old man bearing Chinese citizenship illegally crossed the border near Moc Bai International Bordergate.

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old woman of Hai Phong city boarded a fishing vessel to illegally enter Phu Quoc district island, southern Vietnam. She then traveled to Hanoi and her hometown in Kien Thuy district.

During a meeting in Hanoi on March 26, Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long warned about the possibility of another coronavirus outbreak in Vietnam if anti-coronavirus measures are not tightened.
