The coldwater fish research centre in the Central Highland province of Lam Dong has successfully hatched salmon eggs imported from Finland at Da Lat city’s freshwater Tuyen Lam lake.

The centre said up to 90 percent of 250,000 imported salmon eggs hatched out after one week.

Salmon, a kind of coldwater fish, was previously bred in the northern province of Lao Cai, where the temperature can drop to minus 10 degrees Celsius in winter and rises to 20 degrees Celsius in summer, which, Finnish experts said, are ideal conditions for salmon breeding.
