The grand ceremony of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi will take place in the next more than 50 days.

Hanoi’s preparations for the event were discussed at a meeting on August 10, presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung, head of the National Steering Committee for the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Mr Hung asked all relevant agencies to do at their utmost for a successful grand ceremony. He agreed to organise a ceremony to receive a certificate recognising the Thang Long Royal Citadel as a world heritage on October 1.

To ensure the success for the event, Mr Hung requested that a mass parade must feature significance of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

The Hanoi’s People’s Committee has urged art troupes and colleges to mobilise artists and masses to rehearse in preparation for the opening ceremony at Ly Thai To Flower-Garden on October 1.

The Municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the General Department of Politics under the Ministry of Defence have already completed the script for the event and is designing costumes, props, music and light.

The Ministry of Public Security has developed a specific plan and mobilise all forces to ensure safety and order for the event.
