Celebrations held abroad to commemorate 74th National Day
VOV.VN - Vietnamese embassies in India, Laos, and Japan played host to a number of ceremonies in anticipation of the nation’s 74th National Day on September 2.
Speaking at a banquet on August 30, Pham Sanh Chau, Vietnam’s ambassador to India, detailed the nation’s development milestones which have been reached over the course of the past 74 years. The event saw the participation of 300 guests including those representing various Indian government agencies, media agencies, and the Vietnamese expat community. |
At a reception in Vientiane on August 30, Nguyen Ba Hung, Vietnam’s ambassador to Laos, noted the significance of both the August Revolution and National Day. The ambassador used the occasion to highlight the many great achievements that the country has enjoyed in recent years. |
Representatives from a number of foreign embassies were in attendance at the event in Laos. |
During his opening speech at a ceremony held in Tokyo on August 30, Vu Hong Nam, Vietnam’s ambassador to Japan, recalled the events of the autumn of 1945, with the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam as a pinnacle. He highlighted the country’s remarkable achievements across a variety of fields such as politics, economy, diplomacy, and security. |
Whilst at the Tokyo event, Toshihiro Nikai, Secretary-General of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, praised the historical struggle of the Vietnamese people. The Secretary-General praised the development of the Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership and shared his enthusiasm for the future. |
A ceremony was also held in Japan on August 29 to mark the occasion of the 74th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day, in addition to the 10th anniversary since the establishment of Vietnam’s consulate general in Fukuoka. The event brought together approximately 600 Vietnamese and Japanese delegates. |
Consul General Vu Binh noted that the event was being held with the aim of showing sincere thanks to both Vietnamese and Japanese individuals and groups for their contributions to the development of Vietnam-Japan relations over the years. Traditional art performances were held during the ceremony, leaving a positive impression on the international friends. |
