China Southern Airlines relaunches Guangzhou – Cam Ranh air route
VOV.VN - China Southern Airlines has re-operated its air route connecting China’s Guangzhou province and Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa province, a major tourist destination in central Vietnam, since the COVID-19 pandemic was brought under control.
The first flight landed at Cam Ranh International Airport on September 20, bringing 130 Chinese travelers to Khanh Hoa.
China Southern Airlines is running three flights a week on the Guangzhou – Cam Ranh route on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, according to a representative of Cam Ranh International Airport.
China Southern Airlines is the first Chinese commercial airline that has reopened flights to Khanh Hoa following the containment of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The reopening of the Guangzhou - Cam Ranh route will help travel agencies to arrange tours bringing Chinese tourists to Khanh Hoa as well as bringing people of Khanh Hoa and neighboring provinces to China, said Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, director of the Khanh Hoa provincial tourism department.
Meanwhile, several Vietnamese airlines such as VietJet Air and Bamboo Airways have operated charter flights from China to Khanh Hoa, after Vietnam reopened its doors to foreign travelers in March 2022. However, the number of these flights has fallen in recent times.
“It is expected that charter flights carrying Chinese tourists to Khanh Hoa will begin to gradually increase in numbers from November 2023, while Chinese commercial airlines will also plan to re-operate flights to Khanh Hoa in the fourth quarter,” said the representative of Cam Ranh International Airport, adding Korean airlines will also gradually increase flights to Nha Trang City of Khanh Hoa province thanks to rising travel demand among Korean tourists.
Khanh Hoa welcomed 4.25 million domestic holidaymakers and 1.45 million foreign travelers over the past nine months. It aims to receive 4.3 million domestic holidaymakers and 4.5 million foreign travelers by 2025.
