The central province of Thanh Hoa has invested VND290 billion in upgrading and building three centres for the fishery industry.

Of the total, VND125 billion was used to expand the Lach Bang fishing port to 48ha to include service and processing areas as well as a market.

The Lach Bang fishery centre will also have a new 60ha shelter for between 500-700 fishing boats with an engine capacity of below 400CV, and an extended 200m-long wharf to receive 600CV ships.

The Lach Hoi fishery centre has been under construction as from August 2007 with an initial investment of VND79 billion.

Once completed, the centre will include a 41ha shelter for some 700 ships with an engine capacity of below 600 CV.

The province also plans to increase its investment to build a 20ha area for services and processing in the Lach Hoi port.

At the same time, VND70 billion has been invested in building the Hoa Loc fishing port in an effort to turn it into another fishery centre of the province.
