The agreement was reached by Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Gen. Shigeru Iwasaki, Chief of Staff of the Japan Air Self-Defence Force at a reception in Hanoi on September 15.

The two sides said that the agreement would contribute to promoting defence cooperation between the two countries to match cooperative ties and strategic partnership.

Khanh praised outcomes of the working session in training and exchanges of delegations and experience in rescue work. He thanked Japanese people for invaluable support to Vietnam over the past time.

Iwasaki thanked the Vietnamese people for their timely assistance to the Japanese people in overcoming the consequences of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
