Charity ultra-marathon raises funds for the poor

(VOV) -A charity ultra-marathon dubbed “Tole to Pole: Vietnam” will commence from Sa Vi Cape, northern province of Quang Ninh on December 9 to raise funds to improve access to clean water for poor communities.

Former Australian politician Patrick Farmer and his Vietnamese friend Mai Nguyen Dinh Huy are scheduled to run through 30 provinces to the country’s southernmost point, Ca Mau Cape, over 40 days.

Numerous  athletes and local supporters will meet them at various points throughout the course and anyone interested in participating over 10m, 100m, 1km or even the whole ultra-marathon are invited to register via email: poletolevietnam@gmail.com.

The event, jointly held by the Asian Chamber of Commerce (ACC), Le Quy Duong Ltd. and the Thao & Van Hoa (Sports & Culture) Newspaper, marks the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties .

Farmer has previously completed a 21,000km race from the North to South Pole over 10 months and 13 days as fund-raiser for Red Cross water and sanitation projects worldwide.
