Vietnam has intensified its anti-corruption campaigns by establishing a series of steering boards in charge of overseeing provincial and municipal administrations.

The move is one of the latest revisions to the Anti-Corruption Law at the first session of the 12th National Assembly on August 4.

In another shift, corruption scandals will now be handled by the Justice Committee of the National Assembly instead of the Law Committee.

The anti-Corruption Law took effect on June 1, 2006 after being ratified at the 11th National Assembly's eighth session on November 29, 2005.
