The two cities of Hanoi and Havana will increase their co-operation in health, education, sports, culture and information technology.

This was announced in a co-operation agreement signed by Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Trieu and President of Havana's government Juan Contino Aslan in Hanoi on December 20 during the latter’s working visit to Hanoi to promote exchange and co-operation between the two cities.

The same day, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Phu Trong received the Havana leader and his party.

Mr Trong expressed his pleasure at the delegation's visit to Hanoi and affirmed the long-lasting relations between Vietnam and Cuba and said that Cuba's support to Vietnam over the past years has left deep impressions on the Vietnamese people in general and the Hanoians in particular.

President Aslan thanked the Hanoi administration and people for their warm welcome and said that Havana would be willing to share experiences and cooperate with Hanoi.
