The GTel Global Telecommunications Corporation on July 8 signed a contract with Russia’s Vimpel-Com group to set up a joint-stock company to provide telecommunications services in Vietnam.
Under the contract, GTel holds 60 percent of the freshly-set GTel Mobile joint-stock company and the Russian partner, 40 percent.
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieut. Gen. Dang Van Hieu said the joint-venture was part of a strategy to establish the partnership between Vietnam and Russia, contributing to the traditional friendship between the two countries.
GTel executives said the joint-venture will provide its customers with all telecommunications services from fixed phone to mobile phone networks, additional services, broad-band internet services, information security services, application software VOIP and Wimax.
