The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee opened its 39^th session in Hanoi on April 26, under the chairmanship of NA Chairman Nguyen Van An.

The committee discussed the Social Insurance Law with a focus on pensions and social allowances for labourers participating social insurance.

During the session, the NA Standing Committee will contribute opinions on a number of laws, namely the Social Insurance Law, the Law on amendments and supplements to some articles of the Law on HIV/AIDS Prevention, the Civil Aviation Law, the Information Technology Law, the Real Estate Trading Law and the Securities Law.

NA deputies will hear reports on the execution of civil and criminal procedures at the district and municipal levels under new regulations in the Civil Procedure Code and the Criminal Procedure Code. They will also hear reports on the implementation of land use and management plans under the Land Law, socio-economic tasks and the State budget for 2005-2006, and discuss preparations for the 9^th session of the 11^th NA.

The session is scheduled to close on May 6.
