Nearly 100 local films, research projects and critics will be competing for the 2006 Golden Kite Awards at a ceremony to be held in Hanoi on May 5 by the Vietnam Cinematography Association.
Entries include seven celluloid films, 20 soap opera series, 48 documentaries, four scientific films, six animated films and seven research projects.
In addition to the Golden Kite Awards, the Organising Board will also present a number of Silver Kite Awards to encourage hard and creative works, according to Tran Kim Luan, chairman of the Vietnam Cinematography Association and head of the Organising Board.
The board will also present awards to two films, one that has attracted the largest number of moviegoers and another that has sold the highest number of tickets.
