Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has affirmed Vietnam’s strong commitment to ensuring an open, transparent and fair business environment for businesses’ success.

He made the affirmation when addressing the 2017 CEO Summit Gala Dinner held during the ongoing APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in Da Nang city. The following is the full text of his remarks at the event:

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen,
It is a great pleasure to be here this evening to welcome all of you to the APEC CEO Summit and to the APEC 2017 Leaders’ Week in Da Nang.
Our dinner tonight marks the very successful APEC 2017 CEO Summit and a good prelude to a series of important meetings of our Leaders in the next two days. I take this opportunity to reiterate our thanks and appreciation to all speakers who have addressed the Summit, and especially to all the global and regional corporate partners who have supported us for this important week and throughout the years on all our initiatives and programmes.
The 2017 CEO Summit is taking place at a significant moment for APEC and for the Asia – Pacific, when the regional and global landscape is changing rapidly and dramatically. APEC more than ever, continues to uphold its leading role in creating new drivers for economic growth and integration.
I am very glad to see that the APEC CEO Summit this year has one of the largest turn-outs and is overflowing with interest. Your presence here shows that APEC CEO Summit has become the landmark event of the business community across the Asia – Pacific, the most economically dynamic region of the world. It is such a meaningful and unique platform that brings together top regional CEOs to share diverse thoughts and perspectives.

And at this very Summit, many useful suggestions, ideas and solutions for growth, cooperation and connectivity from the business community have come into being, making direct contributions to the region’s  connectivity, freer flows of goods and services, and above all to sustainable development and prosperity of our region. I believe that your suggestions and ideas will be duly reflected and taken into serious consideration at the APEC Leaders’ Meeting.

Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of you, the APEC CEOs, for your strong partnership and commitment to your business in Vietnam, and to our shared economic and strategic goals. When you invest in Vietnam, everyone wins.

The business community in Asia – Pacific region has been playing a pivotal role in Vietnam economic development. You are our largest foreign investors and trading partners and also our credible policy advisors. We appreciate your strong support, sharing and cooperation in the last 30 years of our economic reform.

During the past few days, you have listened to the remarks of our President Tran Dai Quang at the opening of this Summit and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the Vietnam Business Summit. Tonight, I am here to reaffirm once again the strong commitment of the Government of Vietnam to ensuring an open, transparent and fair environment for your business in Vietnam, for your success, and we wish you continued success.

Before concluding, let me have a few words about this thriving and dynamic city of Da Nang. This city is striving to become the most livable city in the country, a must-visit tourist attraction and a major investment destination. Da Nang is also boosting its growth as a key city and driving force for the coastal central region in the years to come, and planning to be a regional hub for urbanisation, tourism and hi-tech growth. So, I hope you won’t miss your business opportunity here in Da Nang, especially during this important week.
Finally, ladies and gentlemen, I wish all of you a memorable week and wonderful night, and wish you good health, happiness, further success and prosperity.

Thank you.”
