The southern province of Kien Giang is speeding up site clearance for the building of a belt road running along the Gulf of Thailand to link Vietnam with Cambodia and Thailand.

The project, scheduled to start early 2009 and complete five years later, is estimated to cost US$328 million sourced from loans by the Asian Development Bank and the Republic of Korea, non-refundable aid of Australia and corresponding capital of Vietnam.
